I went to the TUC to watch the phantoms beat the devils.

Hey, I was only there to watch the Wolf*Pack play.

Oh they also lost to the Time Warner cup to the Adirondack Phantoms.

I only bring this up because for most of the season I read the non-stop posts of Albany Devil fans on the Time Union Blog how at least the Devils where not in dead last like the Phantoms.

The Whale score, the brass bonanza gets played at the Whale Bowl outdoor game at UConns Rentschler Field.

I normally try to take a video of how the crowd looks at AHL games, but it was TOO DARN COLD and windy to get a decent video of the crowd at uconns’ rentschler field for the CT Whale outdoor game. I understand a lot of people left after the first due to extreme cold.

Those two girls must have been freezing their butts off. srly, it was 20 degrees with 50 MPH winds and they are walking around in hot shorts?? LOL. I tried to take this video with out appearing to be a total creep.

The Times union asks How can the Devils make it work in Albany?

To which I say having a devils farm team move to your town is the hockey equivalent of the Romans move to your town, they are going to treat you like poop and they very well might salt the earth of your town before they leave.

These guys have made it pretty clear they dont want to be here. They have 4 “home” games in Atlantic city this year. Lamoriello was quoted in the Atlantic city press on August 25, 2010 -

“I was flabbergasted to see what this facility offered,” the Devils’ CEO/president and general manager said Tuesday during a news conference at the hall. “I am almost embarrassed that I’ve been in New Jersey 20 years and I have not seen this facility. It was a very easy decision once we came here.””

I think that makes it perfectly clear what the devils org think about Albany and it’s people.  I won’t be supporting them and you won’t catch me in their building unless they are playing the Phantoms or the Wolfpack / Whale.  I’m lucky to live in Saratoga County NY and I’m in the middle of a Hockey Hotbed. I have two nationally ranked D1 teams up the road, RPI and Union and I have another AHL team up in Glens Falls, the Phantoms.  I honestly would rather go see d3 skidmore college hockey play before walking a devil team play.
